Single of the Week: "Kuchizuke" by Buck-Tick (Shiki OP1)

Sorry for the inactivity these past two weeks. Midterms are always pretty time consuming. Now that my work has lightened up, I can find the free time to dedicate to my blog and catch up on the tons of anime I have yet to watch this season. But with Halloween right around the corner, I really wanted to suggest a horror anime just to get into the spirit of things. Here is one of my personal horror favorites . . .
Shiki. Oh but wait, this is a “sotw” post. Well, the song is not bad either.

The opening song is by Buck-Tick, a Japanese rock band that formed in the early 80’s. Their style gives off a very gothic vibe to the anime with their interpretation of “Kuchizuke” or Kisses – a good name for the song, considering it is an anime about vampires. But unlike the American version of vampires which has pretty much been ruined by the Twilight series and every other vampire teen romance, Shiki takes a more classic approach to the meaning of scary . . . Or I should say creepy. If you’re looking for something with a bit of bite this Halloween season, why not give this anime a nice view of your neck? . . . That was a terrible pun, I know.

Anyway, here is my favorite review of Shiki by AH. I found it enjoyable and I figured you might appreciate it too.
